The Merry Widow basque became popular in the early 1950s. Whereas a corselette focuses on the hips and derriere, a Merry Widow focuses on the upper torso. The strapless bra combined with a controlling waist cincher is perfect for tight-bodiced, full-skirted gowns that were extremely fashionable in the 1950s. Made from black satin and powermesh with a cinching band around the waist and detachable, adjustable shoulder straps, and an adjustable hook and eye fastening at back. 6 adjustable metal clip suspenders. With the straps removed it is ideal for wearing underneath strapless dresses.
